Not Your Phone

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 July 2026

Not Your Phone is a fictional game. The phone you search inside the game is written content, not a real device. This policy covers the small amount of data the app does handle in order to save your progress, unlock stories, and show ads.

We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or location. There is no sign-up. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for profiling outside of the advertising described in section 5.

1. Who we are

This policy applies to the Not Your Phone mobile app and to this website (together, the "Service"). The operator of the Service is referred to below as "we" or "us". You can reach us at support@notyourphone.app.

2. What we collect

The app creates an anonymous player identity the first time you open it. It is a random identifier generated on your device, not a profile of you. Everything below is tied to that identifier and nothing else.

Data Why Where it is stored
Anonymous player credentials generated on your device To recognise the same player on the next launch without a sign-up Device keychain or secure storage, plus our content server
Game progress: which questions you solved, the answers you typed, hints you revealed, and when a case was completed To let you stop a case and resume it later Our content server
Story unlocks and Pro status To open the stories you have paid for or unlocked with an ad Our content server
Language preference (Japanese or Traditional Chinese) To serve the story in the language you chose Your device, and our content server
Technical data such as IP address, device model, operating system version, and app version To deliver content, keep the service running, and prevent abuse Server logs

We do not run any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK inside the app. There is no advertising, tracking, or analytics script on this website.

3. What we never collect

4. The answers you type

When you answer a case question, the text you typed is saved with your progress so the case can be resumed and so we can see which questions players find unclear. Please treat the answer field as a game input and avoid typing personal information into it.

5. Advertising

The app shows rewarded ads only, and only when you choose to watch one to unlock a story. There are no banners, no interstitials, and no ads you did not opt into. Ads are delivered by Google AdMob.

When you watch an ad, Google may process technical data such as your IP address, device advertising identifier, device type, and interaction with the ad in order to deliver and measure it. This processing is governed by Google's privacy and terms and Google's advertising policies. Depending on your region and your device settings, ads may be personalised or non-personalised.

You can limit ad personalisation at any time:

When an ad completes, Google notifies our server so the unlock can be recorded against your anonymous player identity. We receive the fact that a reward was earned, not a profile of you.

6. Purchases

Not Your Phone Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those stores process the payment. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or store account.

We use RevenueCat to check whether a purchase is valid and still active. RevenueCat receives your anonymous player identity and the purchase receipt issued by the store, and returns your entitlement status. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

7. Who processes your data

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the game:

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers. We may disclose data if we are legally required to, or to protect the service against abuse.

8. International transfers

Our servers and the providers above may process data in countries other than the one you play in. Where required, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers publish, such as standard contractual clauses.

9. How long we keep it

Progress, unlocks, and entitlement records are kept while your anonymous identity exists, so you do not lose a case you were halfway through. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded. If you ask us to delete your data, we delete the player record and everything attached to it.

If you delete the app on Android, the stored credentials go with it and the server record is orphaned. On iOS the credentials may survive a reinstall, because they live in the system keychain.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data, and to object to it or ask for a copy. Because the identity is anonymous, we may need you to send the request from the device you play on so we can locate the right record.

Write to support@notyourphone.app and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in Japan you may also contact the Personal Information Protection Commission, and if you are in the EU or the UK you may complain to your local supervisory authority.

11. Children

The game deals with adult relationships and is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to play, or older if your country sets a higher age for consenting to data processing. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has been using the app, contact us and we will delete the record.

12. Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Credentials are stored in the device keychain where the platform provides one. Access rules on our content database are written so that a player can only ever read their own progress and unlocks. No system is perfectly secure, but the data at stake here is deliberately small.

13. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will announce material changes in the app before they take effect.

14. Contact
